Over years of practice, deliberations and encounters in the area of Media Freedom, Journalist Safety and Community Journalism in India, CAAJ has experienced that traditional ways of securing the Right to Freedom of Expression and Speech have increasingly become ineffective in the face of authoritarian regimes. Is an alternative and non-traditional mechanism possible? This working paper on the subject is for wider consultation.  

For Endorsement: Journalist Sandhya Ravishnkar's letter to Chennai CP on threats and intimidation

Chennai journalist and member of this group Sandhya Ravishankar has been facing numerous threats and intimidation for her stories against illegal sand mining . Over the last few weeks, the threats and intimidatory tactics have intensified. She has filed complaints with the Chennai Police Commissioner but no action has been taken as yet. The letter is addressed to the Chennai CP seeking immediate action on her complaints. Pls endorse it.
